Help Desk
The Help Desk is located on the ground floor in the centre of the building. It is here that you will be able to consult our knowledgeable staff about any research enquiry relating to the Archive collections and the Wiltshire Studies collection, which form a major part of our public services.
Making the most of your visit
You will always be assured of a warm welcome when visiting the centre. You can just drop in, but we do recommend that you contact the archive service and book the facilities you need in advance so that you can make the most of your visit. We will ask you to obtain a reader’s ticket to use the search rooms so please bring along some proof of identity. Please note that you will be asked not to bring bags and coats in the searchrooms and on you first visit our reception team will advise you on the safe handling of original documents to help us preserve our written heritage for present and future generations.
Copying books and documents
Most records can be copied by one means or another. We will advise on what may be copied, the most suitable method and the cost. You are welcome to take photographs with your own camera, provided you ask permission first and pay a standard fee. If you wish to publish documents or make lengthy quotations you should first consult a member of staff.
