Perhaps you would prefer the life of a mosaicist, travelling from villa to villa to complete mosaics of the latest fashion for the owners? What if you were a household slave travelling with her mistress to Bath to take the waters - would a life of servitude be a good choice? Come to our Roman Family Fun day on Monday 27^th July 2009 and you can find out what it was like for people living in Wiltshire when it was part of the Roman Empire. Read on to find out more......

Excavation at St. Laurence School, Bradford on Avon

You can ask a Roman soldier and a household slave what their lives were like. You can dress up in Roman clothes or design your own mosaic. You can find out about the latest excavations on Roman sites and see objects that have been uncovered. A finds expert will be on hand to identify any finds - so if you have dug up an old object in your garden bring it with you (it doesn't have to be Roman!).

Maybe you would like to be an archaeologist uncovering the past. If so, you can have a go at cleaning and identifying finds from a Roman excavation and find out from local archaeologists what their work is like. Morning event runs from 10am - 12 noon and is suitable for all the family. Afternoon event runs from 1.30pm - 3.30pm and is for children 8 and over only. Children aged under 8 must be accompanied by an adult.
