British Archaeology Festival 2010

Pilgrims & Pageants

This years event, called 'Pilgrims & Pageants', coincided with the 150th anniversary of Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum and took place on Saturday 17 July 2010. The day was very successful with over 900 visitors through the doors of the museum, beating attendance records for the last three years! The weather held out for the medieval pageant which saw knights in armour, musicians and hobby horses parading around the Cathedral Close at 3pm.

The Conservation Service will be showing their display on the Conservation of Armour again at our Open Day on 25 September at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre in Chippenham. There will be another chance to make yourself a knights helmet and see some real funerary armour on display and find out how it is being conserved.

See the main page of our website for more details. As always there will be lots to see and do for all the family so come along and join in - we look forward to seeing you there!

Please also check back for details of next year's British Archaeology Festival event which will be posted soon.
