Introduction to Archive and Academic library use - Research Visit

A level History
Give your students an experience of real research using the resources of the History Centre to investigate a subject of your choice. This activity is a good introduction to using an archive and academic library and would be suitable for students in preperation for their historical enquiry or in advance of studying at HE.
Students will complete a series of practical tasks including:
- using online catalogues to identify and order books and journals form the local studies library
- using online and paper based catalogues to identify and order documents from the archive
- visiting the strongrooms to see how documents are stored and retrieved for use
All visits to the History Centre include a tour of the strongroom and use of our public facilities; lockers, toilets, vending machines, area for eating lunch. There is full disabled access and a disabled toilet.
