Meomorand[um] That in or neere upon the fifte day of

December Anno d[omi]ni 1627. Nicholas Perry the

elder of the Cittie of newe Sarum in the Countie

of Wiltes carpenter beinge aged & somwhat weake

in body but sounde in minde & memorie & consideringe

his mortalitie especiallie in that tyme of co[n]tagion then

raigninge in the Cittie of newe Sarum came over to

Combe bissett not farre frome Sarum of purpose

to his sonne Anthonie who at that tyme lay and

resided there for refuge from the co[n]tagion in Sarum

& there toulde the saide Anthonie his minde in case

God called him out of this worlde & w[i]thall related

unto him that his sonne Nicholas had threatened

to use his wife hardly & to turne her out of doores

after his death if he came to succeede him beinge

in rev[er]sion after him if he otherwise did not dispose

of his howse & therefore he shoulde not have it but Anthonie

shoulde gett a convayance made to himselfe & he shoulde

have it & use his mother well, And that he might

the better doe soe he then w[i]th true intent to

settle & make his will & to dispose of his goodes &

p[er]sonall estate, (such as it was) saide he did & woulde

give all his goodes to him the saide Anthonie and

declared his minde openly in the pr[e]sence of the wife

& servant of the saide Anthonie to the[ e]nde they shoulde

take notice thereof & testifie the same if neede required

& afterwarde dep[ar]ted & went to Sarum wheare about

Newyearestyde he happened to fall sicke and soe

lyinge in his death bed (fewe or none com[m]ing to visite

him for feare of infection (though (God be thanked) he was

not touched therew[i]th) his wife asked him if he woulde

make

make his will and he toulde her he had made his

will already at Combe & the will that he made

there shoulde stande, but besides that he did and woulde

give to his sonnes Nicholas & John Perry

And to his sonne John a sette of plumpe boriers (a carpenter's boring tool)

two brasse Candlestickes, & this was on the

thirde of Januarie last & w[i]thin two or thre dayes

followinge he dep[ar]ted out of this life & other

disposall of his goods he made none.
