What's New

While the History Centre has been closed staff have been busy working from home on new content, including our Conservation & Museums Advisory Service (CMAS). Check out conservator Kayleigh Spring's film on YouTube about her work preserving a pair of boots belonging to footballing legend Pele. The Archives & Local Studies team is creating a new collection about Living in Lockdown. It willl document Wiltshire and Swindon's experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Read our newest colleague's blog about starting a new job during lockdown.

Support Us

Donations help fund the acquisition, preservation and conservation of our archive collections. You can help ensure that Wiltshire’s heritage is preserved for future generations by making a donation to the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre.

£5 will pay for one acid-free box to protect our archives
£10 will pay to store up to 32 historic photographs
£20 will pay for 4 sticky traps to keep bugs out of the strong rooms
£50 will pay to house 20 fragile maps
£100 will help us purchase archives to save them for future generations

If you would like to support the preservation of Wiltshire's heritage you can donate online, or you can send a cheque payable to ‘Wiltshire Council’ to:

Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre

Cocklebury Road

Chippenham

SN15 3QN

You can make a donation via the donations box located at reception when you visit in person.

Remembering us in your will:

You can also contribute to our collections fund by leaving a bequest to us in your will. Find out more in our guide to leaving a legacy to us.
